Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Canada

Over the past decades, Viet Nam has successfully carried out the process of economic renovation and international integration, recording enormous achievements in all economic, political, cultural and social areas, etc. The country at present has diplomatic ties with nearly 180 countries and territories, trade relations with more than 200 economies all over the world and is now member of the United Nations and numerous international as well as regional organizations.

Viet Nam and Canada established diplomatic relations in 1973. Although with different cultures and traditions and being geographically located far apart, the two countries have shared common values in peace, friendship and cooperation over the past 40 years. Two-way trade between Vietnam and Canada reached about 2 billions USD in 2013; Canada now ranks 14th among the countries investing in Vietnam; every year about a hundred thousand Canadians chose Vietnam as a favourite tourist destination; the cultural tie and people to people link between the two countries have  also been enriched by more than 200.000 Vietnamese living and working in Canada.
