Mid-January 2011, the Protocol Directorate set up a call centre accessible via a single number: 02 501 35 00. It had been working hard for some time to optimise the service provided to the various diplomatic missions, consulates and international institutions. With over 23,000 applications annually for special identity cards (new applications, extensions etc.), the Protocol Directorate is constantly flooded with telephone calls.
Protocol is also competent, among other things, for issuing CD number plates for cars, ensuring security for diplomatic missions, organising visits made by foreign officials and acting as a mediator in disputes between Belgian citizens and diplomatic delegations.
The call centre can take care of the heavy flux of calls and correctly connect the caller with the competent employee, enabling the Protocol Directorate to save precious time and improve the service it offers to its important international public.
