Hi, my name is Gerry Crowe, owner of Perfect Pitch Music Store.
To love and play guitar and own a music shop is a dream come true. I'm sure I'm the envy of most guitarists. But running a shop is not all fun and games - it requires dedication and commitment.
I started Perfect Pitch in 1993 having spent nearly 30 years selling guitars for somebody else. The old saying of the customer is always right is my first rule of thumb. For without YOU guys we wouldn't exist.
I keep in touch with the practical side of the business by being an active musician, playing guitar and singing, doing charity work, fundraising, etc. But I like a good western or horror movie as much as the next guy. The business was founded on the genuine belief of giving good service and advice to the customer and offering a friendly and relaxed atmosphere/environment in which to shop and although staff come and go, I still train staff in this way and it pays off tenfold.
You'll see from the new website, which has a whole new look, the range of guitars including about 25-30 Martin guitars, the largest stock in the world. If you visit the shop you will be shown around this great selection guitars and you will no doubt experience the reason they are still regarded as the number 1 guitar brand worldwide.
During my time in retail I have mixed with the rich and famous including Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Rory Gallagher, Christy Moore, Damien Dempsey and many more.
I even have the dubious honour of ejecting Gary Moore and Phil Lynott out of a very famous music shop many years ago. We are still honorary members of the Roisin Dubh trust Ltd in honour of the great Phil.
A snippet of info: I was one of the first people Phil talked to about his new group Thin Lizzy in 1971! I even sold Mel Gibson a Jews Harp in exchange for his autograph.
The recent visit by the eagles brought legendary guitarist Joe Walsh into us the day before the RDS concert. After a brief chat and a few laughs he handed me from the rack a Dom Armstrong Plexiglass Guitar and said those three magic words, "I'll take it". "Would you like to plug it in, sir?" "Naw it's cool". "Would you show me the solo in HOTEL" I said..."Next Time was his answer" Will there be a next time? "For Sure" was his answer.
Duff McKagen made his presence known to me recently when he came in and chose a guitar for a friend and calmly paid with card and made his leave. I had the pleasure of selling Neil Jordan a beautiful guitar Christmas Eve a few years ago and delivering it out to him in Dalkey.
