Salvatore Carnelos was born in in 1972 to Italian parents. Since completing his apprenticeship as chef in 1992 at Hotel le Plaza Basel and its MUBA Restaurants, he has been head chef at various local establishments including Birseckerhof, Balthazar and the museum restaurant of the Fondation Beyeler (Berower Park) in Riehen. SCHLÖSSLI is his first independent venture. He’s been married to Megan Rodgers, an artist and teacher from Chicago, since 2007. She will be organizing rotating art exhibits on the walls of SCHLÖSSLI. In 2008, their daughter Natasha was born.
