The rich history of Mayslacks started in 1955. When the former pro-wrestler, Stan Myslajek (the original, Polish spelling of Mayslack) started making massive, garlic-enhanced, roast beef sandwiches. People would line up around the block, paper plates in hand, waiting to savor one of his towering sandwiches. The booming, broad-shouldered Stan, would demand that you use ""TWO HANDS!"" when he piled the beef on your plate. The juke box only played polka and Stan's wife used a cigar box as the till. Stan passed away in 1994 and not too much has changed. While the juke box boasts a wider variety of music and we have computerized tills, we're still holding down our corner in Northeast Minneapolis, our cooks still make the beef true to Stan's style, and the wait staff uses two hands when delivering the piping hot sandwiches to your table. We've also upgraded from paper to solid plates, but we'll still shout 'TWO HANDS!"" at you, if you ask.
