This new LDS.org Web site is still being developed. As a result, some sections are not yet complete, and some of the materials found in the current LDS.org are not yet available on the new LDS.org. We ask for your patience as you use the new site. If you have specific questions or want to let us know about a problem with the new Web site, please use the Feedback link at the bottom of almost any page. We also invite you to use that same link to share with us your experiences with this new site.

When complete, this section of the new LDS.org will highlight significant events in Church history and provide resources you can use to study these events in greater detail.

On the day the Church was organized, the Lord told the Church, “Behold, there shall be a record kept among you” (D&C 21:1). Since that time, the Church has gathered records, built monuments at historic sites, and constructed a library dedicated to recording its history. Referring to the Church’s extensive recorded history, Church historian Marlin K. Jensen has said, “This extraordinary historical record reminds us that God has again opened the heavens and revealed truths that call our generation to action” (“Remember and Perish Not,” Ensign, May 2007, 36).

Studying history can help us see the hand of the Lord in the lives of His people. Alma encouraged Church members to remember the captivity of their fathers. “Yea, and have you sufficiently retained in remembrance his mercy and long-suffering towards them?” (Alma 5:6). Recognizing and remembering such blessings is essential to maintaining a spirit of gratitude.
