St. Clare's, Oxford is an independent, international college with the mission of promoting international education and understanding. We offer a wide range of English language courses throughout the year for adults.

St. Clare’s has been a leading centre for the study of the English Language for non native speakers for more than 50 years. Therefore St. Clare’s recognises that students with higher levels of English need to be:

• intellectually challenged

• stimulated academically to improve linguistically

A course at St. Clare’s provides an outstanding and unique opportunity to study the English language and academic subjects which incorporate an international and comparative content for example International Relations, Religion and Globalisation, Cultural Differences and Communication and Business.

Most of the academic subjects are drawn from St. Clare’s Study Abroad programme for our partner institutions in the USA.

St. Clare’s English language courses offer a good range of levels, with flexible start dates:

• Elementary to Advanced

• Academic year, September to June and the Summer period

• Every month start for a full year, a term or a shorter course

Students have the opportunity to progress quickly as there is a combination of language and cultural subjects. Students can follow exciting and practical programmes which include subjects like:

• Extra Grammar and Vocabulary

• Speaking & Pronunciation practice

• Vocabulary and Idioms

Our courses teach English in context enabling students to reach higher levels to prepare and sit well-known English language examinations such as IELTS or the Cambridge exams. Other students start their studies in our English Language courses and as soon as they reach the right level join our more academic programmes and really improve their understanding of the world, their use of English by living and studying in an international, cosmopolitan and diverse community.

St. Clare’s also runs a very successful residential summer vacation programme for young adults 16+ and juniors 10-16 year olds.
