The Reggio Lingua School of Italian Language and Culture for Foreigners is housed in an historic building in the heart of Reggio Emilia, just a short walk from the site of the city’s original gateway on the via Emilia. Located in the middle of the Po Plain, just a few kilometres from the River Po and the slopes of the Apennines, Reggio Emilia is in a strategic position for visiting all the main attractions of North Italy yet far enough off the beaten tourist track to guarantee a relaxing holiday. Founded in 2004 by two teachers Paola and Daniela, Modern Foreign Language and Literature graduates, the school draws on an expert team of highly professional collaborators each backed by years of specialised experience in teaching the Italian language.

Choosing from a complete and varied range of courses, Reggio Lingua constructs personalised syllabuses to suit the personal level and requirements of each individual student.

Due to its excellent standard of services the school is a recognised:

- Perugia University of Foreigners authorised CELI Italian certificate examination centre;

- a member of ASILS (Association of Schools of Italian as a Second Language)

THE COURSES

With a choice of individual and group courses (from 3 to a maximum of 8 students), at 6 different levels, and an extremely flexible teaching team, each student is sure to find a solution which best suits his or her needs with guaranteed maximum results. The school’s informal family atmosphere is conducive to communication, a factor which also encourages students to move out of the school and dialogue with the friendly locals.

The school also offers courses of technical/commercial business Italian to foreigners visiting the country for business purposes and eager to learn appropriate language for carrying out company dealings, work meetings or simply handle everyday work situations.

Reggio Lingua also specialises in Italian "Homestay" packages where students stay and study in a family where one member holds a qualified Italian teaching degree and is always available to help them in their studies and to introduce them to different aspects of the local culture.

These courses are carried out not only in Reggio Emilia and other local towns but also in several other leading Italian cities where Reggio Lingua collaborates with a team of carefully selected professional tutors to satisfy the demands of keen travellers.

SPECIAL PROGRAMMES

Over the years the school has built up remarkable specialisation in organising one or more week long Study Holiday Programmes for school groups in carefully selected local families. In addition to Italian language courses, it offers students the opportunity of meeting their Italian peers and organises specific targeted activities to suit individual age groups and interests, as well as guided tours of local historic sites and famous Italian cities of art.

In the same ambit Reggio Lingua also offers university students an extremely qualified service focused on the traditional Loris Malaguzzi education system, the "Reggio Approach", developed in the city’s nursery schools.

Over the years the school has set up a personalised programme for groups of foreign Educational Science graduates, an Italian study holiday with the option of personally participating in and exploring the local education system.

Due to its contained size and position at the top of the Italian cycle path table, Reggio Emilia is truly built on a “human scale"; while the exceptional services and cultural calendar packed with high profile events make the city an attractive destination and an ideal centre for a study holiday. Warm and welcoming, the city inhabitants are always pleased to meet and speak with visitors from abroad keen to try out their Italian.
