The International Language Academy Pty. Ltd. (ILA) is the global provider of general and occupational English language publications and programs based on the accelerated, teaching and learning methodology pioneered by the 4S Approach To Literacy and Language (4S).

ILA evolved from the Australian International Language Academy (AILA) that was established in 2005 by Dr. Patricia Tyrer, founder of the Queensland Academy of Languages (QAL) and Mr. K. W. Wright, Principal of Outreach Publications Pty. Ltd. (OP) and creator of the 4S methodology and author of the 4S Accelerated English Program (4S-AEP) publications.

While the Australian International Language Academy (AILA) remains the main training arm of Outreach Publications in Australia and throughout the South Pacific Region, ILA, in partnership with the Southern Cross International Learning Institute (SCILI), is now the main 4S-AEP provider in other parts of the globe.

Professional and Social Objective:

With the world facing an ever-worsening, illiteracy dilemma, the dual, professional and social objective of ILA is to use the 4S Approach to play a positive role, particularly in developing countries, to provide educators - be they trained or untrained - in the classroom, in industry or in the home, with the opportunity to enhance their personal literacy and language teaching, tutoring and training skills and in turn, to assist others for whom they are responsible, to repair, raise and refine their individual English talents.

To this end, numerous Teacher-Tutor-Trainer (TTT) courses have been conducted in Australia, the South Pacific and in South East Asia, particularly in Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam for teachers and tutors in the General, Early Childhood and ESL teaching fields as well as for facilitators, trainers and education officers in commercial Call Centres, the Military and Government Departments.

Throughout 2009, in association with Asia e University, ILA was involved in conducting courses designed to train facilitators to run programs to repair and enhance the English language skills of unemployed university graduates from throughout Malaysia. Additionally, intensive 4S-AEP methodology programs have been conducted for teachers, lecturers and final year tertiary students in other universities and colleges and in other countries.

2010 has seen a strengthening of ILA’s presence in these South East Asian countries and also the commencement of a strategy to expand its 4S-Accelerated English Programs into Korea, India, China, Singapore, Thailand, as well in Africa in Uganda and Botswana with the emphasis on “training the trainers” in the 4S accelerated teaching and learning methodology.
