English School Los Olivos

English School Los Olivos was founded in 1976 as a bi-lingual nursery school by a group of Spanish and English-speaking teachers. Now it is a British school, for Spanish and non-Spanish children, from the ages of 3 to 16.

The school is a member of the National Association of British Schools in Spain (NABSS). It is authorised as a British School by the Spanish Ministry of Education and all studies completed at the school are recognised as valid in both the British and Spanish education systems.

There is a full British curriculum, taught in English by qualified, native English-speaking teachers. Also, as required by the Spanish Ministry, there is a programme of Spanish Language, Literature, History and Geography and Valencian, taught by qualified Spanish teachers. The school is a centre for G.C.S.E.s and I.G.C.S.E.s and all the students are prepared for these examinations.

The School is situated in Campo Olivar, a peaceful residential area near Valencia, but away from the noise and pollution of the city. There is easy access on the C234 to Ademuz, a wide dual carriageway, Exit 6, and on the By Pass, exit 52, direction Valencia.

The school consists of two separate sites within 100 metres of each other. The Primary Department is in Avenida Pino Panera, 25 and the Secondary Department in Avenida de los Almendros, 13. The two centres function independently, but at the same time they are near enough to maintain close daily contact and share certain activities.

The school has a warm, friendly atmosphere and with a one form intake is small enough for a close relationship to develop between pupils and teachers.

English School Los Olivos is secular and apolitical. It is run as a cooperative of teachers who all share and work towards the same educational ideal: to link the enrichment of experiencing a foreign culture and learning a foreign language, with an educational philosophy based on responsibility, dialogue and mutual respect. We attempt to enhance every child's individual development, in each of the following aspects: human, emotional, intellectual, artistic and physical.
