Moscow State University of Instrument Engineering

MoscowState University of Instrument Engineering and Computer Sciences (MGUPI) founded on August 29, 1936 now employs 129 Doctors of Science and professors, 520 Candidates of Science and assistant professors, among whom there are 25 full members of Russian and International academies, 15 laureates of State Awards, 20 honoured workers of Science of the Russian Federation.

Our scientists have published 35 textbooks and teaching materials then recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science to Higher School of Russia. These books are employed as the instruction material by many universities in Russia and abroad.

Our scientists' monographs, scientific articles in journals and collections of scientific papers are well known in Russian, CIS and world academic community.

We strongly believe the students, post-graduates, professors and alumni to define the development of the university, as they are the future scholars, professors, academicians, scientists, and leaders in all spheres of life. These are the people ensuring intellectual potential of Russia.

We offer a wide range of educational programs to prepare specialists, masters, bachelors, PhDs and doctors of different sciences. We have a right to carry out fundamental research on the territory of the Russian Federation and abroad. The major departments of the university are the following: the Department of Information Science, the Department of Engineering Informatics, the Department of Economics, the Department of Management and Law, the Department of Instrument Engineering, the Distance Learning Department, the Department of Specialized Secondary

Education, the Evening Department, the Department of IT Advanced Training.

Great diversification of educational and other activities of Moscow State University of Instrument Engineering and Computer Sciences (MGUPI) allowed it to establish fruitful relationships with many international educational institutions and manufacturing enterprises.

Our faculty strongly believe that we have talented and well-educated students. We teach scholars and post-graduates of RF President Program, those participating in the Educational Program of RF Government and other registered holders of fellowships.

To ensure high-quality education we:

• have a number of Science Schools and 7 Dissertation Councils
• have unique educational, research, laboratory and training facilities
• introduced telecommunication center for Internet with 600Mbit/sec bottle neck speed  
• installed 700 PC work stations and created some local nets
• developed an Internet library
• attained good sports results: we have 25 masters of sport in martial arts, mountaineering, motor-boating etc.
• established a student sports camp «Scarlet Sails» at the banks of the Oka River
• built the University Sports and Recreation Center
• have a successful student theater, Club for the lightheaded and quick-witted, a chorus and poetry studio and others

The University is located on the banks of the Yauza River at the historic site, where Peter the Great established first billets for Peter Grenadier Guards, the building is the architectural monument of the 18^th century.
