North Jakarta International School

NJIS was established in January 1990, and later licensed by the National Ministry of education to provide schooling for the children of expatriates residing in Jakarta. It is recognized by the National Ministry of Education as a Yayasan (not-for-profit social foundation) and operates as an independent, not for profit, co-educational day school for Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 10.

NJIS offers an American-based international school curriculum. Most of the textbooks and resources are imported from the United States. However, a wide variety of teaching strategies is employed. NJIS’s enriched curriculum prepares students for the Advanced Placement Program or the International Baccalaureate program. Our teachers are hired from overseas recruitment fairs and come from the USA, Canada, Indonesia. Specialty teachers include art, Bahasa Indonesia, drama, computer, English as a Second Language, Mandarin, music, and physical education. All teachers hold a Bachelor’s degree, with many holding a Master’s degree, and are certified in their specialty. They are recruited not only for their outstanding credentials but also for their creativity, dedication to excellence, ability to cultivate a student’s love of learning, and a commitment to the school’s philosophy.
