Little Wonders Nursery School was established in 2006 and follows the British Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. Our staff, are extremely qualified and experienced early years practitioners – holding qualifications ranging from Bachelors of Education to CACHE. Our staff includes a qualified Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO).
At Little Wonders we believe children learn best from first hand experiences – so we teach children through ‘play’. Our carefully selected resources enable children to explore, experiment, discover and grow in understanding. We firmly believe that nursery should be a foundation for learning through structured play. Our staff are carefully selected for their dedication to the belief that children can learn………. whilst having fun!
We are open from 7am – 6pm, only closing for a two week Mid – Year Break and public holidays (please see Academic Calendar). This makes us an ideal choice for working parents. We also offer a number of flexible part time options – so there is something to suit everyone!
We strive to provide children with a home from home experience by ensuring they feel loved, safe and have a sense of belonging, in a warm, welcoming, clean and stimulating environment. We aspire to meet the individual holistic needs of every child in our care, and we hope that we can achieve this through an effective partnership with parents.
Each day we ensure that your child’s activities have been specifically planned and organized to ensure that they are appropriate to your child’s individual needs and specific to your child’s age group. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and by doing so we ensure that your child receives the best possible start on their road to learning in a stimulating and encouraging setting.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum is split in to six key areas:
Personal, social and emotional development
Communication skills, language and literacy
Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy (Mathematics and Numeracy)
Knowledge and Understanding the World
Each of these areas has a set of stages that progress towards early learning goals and targets and we coordinate and plan activities which will meet the diverse needs of each individual and ensure that they are properly prepared for starting school.
We actively encourage learning through play and ensure that we include activities that involve each of the above areas to ensure that we are providing every child with a broad and balanced curriculum. We will support and encourage your child throughout their time at Nursery, and we keep a record – in the form of an Early Learning Journey Book which monitors there development and ensures all of their needs are met. We actively encourage parents to come to the Nursery and look at these records and add comments should they wish to. We also encourage parents to work in partnership with the staff to ensure their child receives the best care and that we maintain a consistent approach.
