Willowbrook International School

Willowbrook International School is an independent preschool, located in the heart of Tokyo, for children ages 15 months through 5 years. The school, founded in 1998, offers an integrated educational curriculum with an emphasis on human values, interpersonal skills, creativity and multi-cultural awareness. 

When Willowbrook opened in 1998, we designed our curriculum based on the research of Jean Piaget, Erik Erikson, Howard Gardner, and similar researchers who value play and creativity in early childhood.

We believe the best environment for learning and development is one in which children gain self-esteem, enjoy discovering basic learning materials, develop cooperative play skills and build trusting relationships with fellow students and teachers. We encourage our children to be individuals while learning to respect the individuality of others, and to progress at their own pace. Our teachers are facilitators that assist, motivate and inspire the children in a nurturing, safe and happy environment. We also believe that nature plays an integral role in early childhood discoveries. Therefore, our curriculum provides activities for the children to interact with nature.
