Wellesley House is a Co-educational Boarding Preparatory School for children between the ages of 7 and 13. Approximately two thirds of the children are boys. Most of the children are full boarders but some children board weekly or attend as day children. The 7-9 year old boys have their own boarding house attached to the main school. The Junior House is run by a Housemaster, Matrons and ancillary staff.

All the girls are accommodated at The Orchard, a separate house on the far side of the grounds, set amongst fruit trees and private lawns. The Orchard is run by a Housemaster and his wife, Matrons and ancillary staff. The Headmaster and his wife live in the Main School building where the 10-13 year old boys are accommodated under the care of the Director of Boarding and resident matrons.

Wellesley offers small classes, superb facilities and a dedicated teaching staff. Children are encouraged to enjoy sport, music, art and drama whilst at the same time developing their academic strengths. A strong sense of family values pervades and the happiness of each child is paramount. Traditional links with leading senior schools are maintained and in the last few years children have won a range of scholarships to Benenden, Eton, Harrow, Kings Canterbury and Lancing. Children thrive at Wellesley, learning the benefits of teamwork, and a host of extra curricular activities including sailing, riding, golf, fencing and dance ensure the children are stimulated, motivated and happy.

Wellesley House opens up a world of  opportunity for girls and boys aged from 7 to 13. Our primary aim is to prepare pupils for entry to their senior schools via Common Entrance or scholarship by creating the ideal boarding and classroom environment in which to develop a love of learning and so excel.

Academic success is a priority and results are excellent. Wellesley's dedicated staff  perpetuate this through their high expectations and support. Our ethos is that success follows success, whether in or outside the classroom, and occurs naturally in pupils who are happy and motivated. All pupils are encouraged to push themselves and made to feel secure enough to take risks. Potential scholars are identified at an early stage and begin an accelerated programme of learning. Additional educational need is identified and acted upon by trained Learning Support staff via Individual Education Plans and extra tuition can be provided for those requiring help. Expert preparation and guidance for Common Entrance and the individual application procedure required for each senior school are tailored for each child.  We aim to ensure their school of choice is the right choice, so that pupils continue to achieve long after they leave Wellesley.
