After the acquisition of a property suitable for the conversion of a school in 1997, the De Beer family developed the idea to fruition. In 2002, Vale Verde International School was founded following years of investment required to bring the buildings in line with Ministry of Education requirements. In 2007 the school Director obtained a MA in International Education, following the submission of a research document that investigated bilingual aspects of education.
The pilot project conducted in 2008 formed Portugal’s first bilingual primary school, the success of which was well received by a cross section of the local and international schooling community. To absorb the demand and further expand the school, VVIS was awarded a license to build two new wings to the school. The new wings which were completed in August 2010 include three extra classrooms, two ablution blocks and a kitchen.
The school adheres to carefully drafted aims, values and philosophies.
