Union High School is a comprehensive public high school accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the New Jersey State Department of Education. Approximately 2,500 students are enrolled in grades 9-12. The school calendar incorporates four nine week marking periods: 42 minute class periods, five days a week.

A full academic program is offered with honors and advanced placement courses in art, English, social studies, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, world languages, visual/performing arts, and business. Students pursue an appropriate academic program, which is augmented by elective courses in business, career/technical arts, and visual/performing arts.

Students may also elect to participate in the nationally recognized CAST (Communication Arts and Sciences Training) program that offers an introduction to the broad field of television communications. Army Junior R.O.T.C. program in grades 9-12 is offered to all interested students.

Qualified students may also participate in Project Acceleration a cooperative arrangement between Seton Hall University and Union High School. This program provides students with the opportunity to earn up to 22 college credits while attending classes offered at Union High School.

The high school offers a Marketing Education Program with a cooperative education component.

Qualified students are eligible for Drafter Certification through the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA). This certification serves as a supplementary measurement of performance on a recognized national level.
