Teda International School

Teda International School (TIS) was established in 1995 by the governing body of theTianjin Economic Development Area (TEDA), in Tianjin, China, to support the expat community with outstanding education.  All students at TIS are guided towards success by encouraging them to explore Teda International School’s exceptional academic, athletic, leadership, community-outreach, and visual & performing arts programs.

As the only international school in TEDA, TIS is committed to pursuing its mission by offering an outstanding Nursery through grade 12 educational program, a growing number of Advanced Placement (AP) offerings, an extensive co-curricular and extracurricular program, and exciting school sponsored events throughout the year. The school offers a range of after-school activities for students of all grades. It also organizes and hosts more than twenty intra- and inter-school events throughout the year. TIS is proud of the way the parents, staff, and administrators all pull together to sustain such a vibrant, student-friendly community.

To prepare its graduates for global citizenship, TIS balances its academic and extra-curricular programs with educational dynamics that nurture the integrity and character of its students. These dynamics center on whole-child education by developing individual talents in all areas of academics, character, physical and mental health, and creativity. Two curricular cornerstones aim to achieve these goals at TIS.

The Expected School wide Learning Results (ESLR) program expands on academic learning by seeking to develop higher personal standards and awareness in students. It does this by providing guidance in the seven areas ofGlobal Citizenship, Excellent Communication, Problem Solving, Good Character, Critical Thinking, Life-Long Learning, and Creativity in all formal instruction, athletics, field trips, school events, and extracurricular activities.

The second cornerstone at TIS is the Virtues Program, based on Linda Kavelin Popov’s The Virtues Project. This United Nations’ recognized project serves as a model program for families of all cultures. It is utilized by many schools and organizations working with children, including the Boys and Girls Club, because it yields positive results by helping to establish a culture of caring and respect.
