Maadi Children's Study Centre

At MCS we provide a caring learning environment, where our expectations of the students - both academically and personally - are challenging. We also challenge our staff to continue to grow their faith and develop their professional skills through inservice training and external accreditation.

In addition to regular assessment of work, all students sit baseline assessment tests each year, including the Stanford Assessment Tests in Grades 6 through 8, and these provide a solid measurement of progress against internationally accepted standards.

Classes in KG to Grade 5 are sometimes vertically-grouped dependent upon the numbers of children.   The children work on core subjects (e.g. reading, writing and maths) with their class teacher in the mornings and in the afternoons other subjects (e.g. history, science, art, religious studies) are taught by teachers with particular expertise. One morning each week is used for sports and we travel to the local Olympic Centre for this. 

In Grades 6 to 8 the students follow a programme of study based on the UK Key Stage 3 National Curriculum. This is augmented by a number of integrated links with the US curriculum to ensure appropriate coverage for students who come from or who may return to a US system school. This system has been implemented for almost a year and has proven to be beneficial to students from both systems.

In addition to the core curriculum we offer a range of extra curricular activities which have included Jazz Dance, portrait painting, music appreciation and composition, still-life drawing, drama, recreational sports clubs, backgammon and chess. Through links established by parents, students can participate in activities organised by other schools in Maadi.
