Kensington School, a pioneer in the field of British education, was founded in 1968 in the residential suburbs of Northern Madrid (Triana, Chamartín).

The school remained in Chamartín until 1977 when continued growth required that it move to the rapidly developing area of Pozuelo to occupy a purpose-built school.

Upon moving to Avenida de Bularas in September 1977 the school, with a roll of some 500 pupils, occupied only one of the five buildings that now exist. Further construction was completed in September 1979 with the opening of a separate building and play area for Nursery, Reception and Infant pupils.Continued growth in pupil numbers demanded the construction of yet a further building in 1989 for Top Infant and Lower Júnior pupils. The building programme continued in November 1996 with additional accommedation for years 3 and 4.

The school is a founder member of N A B S S (National Association of British Schools ¡n Spain)constituted in 1978.
