The name Kennedy School became the school’s official title when it moved to its current premises in Sha Wan Drive, Sandy Bay, Pokfulam in 1989. When it was established in 1961, it was known as Kennedy Road Junior School and occupied temporary premises in Kennedy Road, Mid-Levels.

The school opened on September 16, 1961 with 44 pupils and two teachers, Miss M. Patten and Miss J.E. Holmes. The opening was necessitated by the rapid growth of the expatriate population at that time and because Glenealy School was unable to accommodate all Year 1 applicants. The school was administered by the Hong Kong Government.

Kennedy is one of 16 schools run by the English Schools Foundation (ESF). The ESF was founded by Ordinance in 1967 to provide a ‘modern liberal education’ through the medium of English.

Kennedy School is committed to providing a high-quality education for all its pupils. The children are taught an English medium international curriculum, modified to make it appropriate for the needs of children living in Hong Kong.

We hope that all the children will find learning an enjoyable experience. We will provide an interesting and stimulating curriculum, taught by committed and professional teachers. We hope that all the children will view themselves as successful learners.
