The International School of Aarhus was established in 2003 as a department of the already existing school, Interskolen, by the Århus Municipality and is supported by a number of businesses in the Århus area.
The International School of Aarhus is a candidate school for the Primary Programme of the International Baccalaureate. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy - a commitment to high quality, challening, international education that ISAa believes is important for students. Attention is still paid to The British National Curriculum. In order to ensure a good standard is maintained, which is universally accepted, standardised tests are taken each year. In addition, the school offers Danish to all students as well as an ESL (English as a Second Language) programme. Many of our students continue their international educations by attending an IBO diploma programme.
The International Department currently has approximately 75 students from 26 countries, ages 5-15 years, and caters - irrespective of creed and nationality - to non-Danish children of parents temporarily residing in Denmark, Danish children of parents returning from abroad or preparing to move abroad, and to children of Danish parents who want to provide their children with an international English language education.
All classes are taught in English and most teachers are native speakers of English.
The Danish Department (Interskolen) has approx. 350 students from 6-16 years of age and serves a community that is permanently residing in Denmark. It prepares the students, in Danish, for further education in Danish institutions.
