When parents transfer to the Netherlands, they are generally accompanied by their children.
One concern they have is whether it will be possible for their children to continue their education both in their native language and without disrupting the learning process.
The Blijberg International Department can help with this problem. The International Department is part of the Blijberg school which is a state-funded Dutch primary school.
Situated in the centre of Rotterdam, the International Department offers a primary education in English given by native speakers to pupils from every corner of the world!
By the end of their education, children who have attended the school are able to return to their own countries with a good command of the English language, or will be able to move to a third country and continue their International education with the least possible disruption to their learning process. Children coming from English speaking countries who return home will be able to continue learning at their own educational level.
If the parents decide to stay in the Netherlands, their children can continue on to secondary level English language education at the RISS, Wolfert van Borselen school, also situated in the north of Rotterdam, adjacent to the Blijberg Zoo.
Following the principles of Jenaplan education, children of the International Department follow individual programmes in mathematics and language while joining in for group lessons where class projects and themes are taught.
The International Department has a strong and international environment, where the children are fully encouraged to integrate into Dutch society through the pupils studying Dutch language and culture.
The school is easily reached by public transport and is within walking distance of Rotterdam Central Train Station.
