Over many years Cairns State High School has established strong traditions and a reputation for innovative practice.
Our traditions of academic, cultural and sporting excellence are based on an absolute commitment to the very best possible educational outcomes for each and every student who enrols at Cairns State High School.
Examples of innovative practice include the rapid development of high quality vocational educational programs, the integration of computers into all aspects of learning and the introduction of Aerospace Studies to the senior curriculum.
The major curriculum develop currently being undertaken at Cairns High is the introduction of the International Baccalaureate as an alternative to the Queensland curriculum in 2010. Cairns High has successfully completed the preparation for the introduction of the program and is now an IB accredited school. We look forward to our first group of students entering the course in 2010.
A caring, supportive and dedicated staff work professionally to ensure that the programs at the school provide education of a high standard. In 2005 the school successfully completed a significant review process and was awarded International Accreditation through the Council of International Schools (CIS) in partnership with the Council of Internationally Accredited Schools Australia (CIASa) on 10 March 2006. The process recognises that the school meets international standards and has a commitment to ongoing improvement.
International accreditation requires a major review of the school after 5 years and this review and visits associated with reaccreditation will occur in 2010. We look forward to using this excellent process to further develop our excellent school.
We are very proud of our school and we are sure that Cairns State High School is the school for your child.
