Northcote Lodge, a school that in its short history has secured for itself an excellent reputation as a leading boy’s preparatory school in which the well tried and tested culture andideals of the traditional English prep school are married to present day needs.

What are these ideals, and do they still have relevance in our rapidly changing society? Good manners, team spirit, self-discipline, concern for the welfare of others, the acknowledgement of responsibilities as well as rights are timeless values that transcend fashion and are virtues that, in a world in which an easy-going moral relativism is the norm and change for its own sake is invariably viewed as good, are easy to mock and, once lost, all too difficult to regain.

Each boy is an individual, and our goal is to inspire and support every one in developing his full potential. The boys know that they come to school to work, but I also feel strongly that education should be an enjoyable process.

Boys are naturally keen to please and to do well and, so long as they are happy and feel valued, they will give of their best. They will grow up all too soon; they must be allowed to be boys, to enjoy their childhood and to mature at their own pace.

Today’s children are our future. They cannot be cocooned from outside influences, and it is therefore our task, through education, to prepare them for the increasingly uncertain and competitive world that they will inherit.
