Benalmádena International College

The BenalmádenaInternationalCollege is a co-educational school founded in 1997. It is situated in Spain on the Benalmádena Costa just 400 meters from the beach. The College provides the British Curriculum from 3 to 18 years old which includes IGCSE, AS and A levels. The Spanish Dual System can be taught to Spanish speaking students. Extra-curricular activities include trips around Spain, Skiing, Sports, Dance, Karate and Drama.

The BenalmádenaInternationalCollege is an up-and-coming school located in Nueva Torrequebrada, just off the N340, between Benalmadena and Fuengirola. The fast-growing number of pupils, ranging from three years old in the Nursery to 18 years old in Year 13, enjoy their education in newly constructed buildings in classes of 20 or less pupils. Situated in an area of 17,500m2 the new College buildings, consisting at present of school, cafeteria and sports pitches, will in the future have the additions of an extra school building just for senior pupils, a hall of residence for visiting schools and sports teams, a kindergarten, a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool and an indoor sports hall. The College will expand on to its ample grounds as pupil numbers increase. The teaching staff are mainly British trained and are highly experienced. All follow the British National Curriculum right through from Key Stage 1 to key Stage 4 where students study for their I.G.C.S.E’s (International General Certificate of Education) in Year 11, and continue to study A-S and A-levels in Years 12 and 13. All pupils study Spanish alongside their National Curriculum work. We also have an optional bi-lingual system of education in place for those pupils who are Spanish or who are fluent in the Spanish language. These classes are taught by an experienced Spanish teacher. The College is a recognised Examination Centre for the Cambridge Board of Examiners and examinations are mainly in May and June, but can also be taken in November in special circumstances. The College has been officially inspected and approved by a team of British inspectors from NABSS (National Association of British schools in) and subsequent inspections will follow periodically. We have also the Spanish Certificate of Education allowing us to teach the Dual system to Bilingual and Spanish children from Year 2. We pride ourselves on delivering a high standard of education and family values in a very caring, friendly atmosphere where our students cannot fail to flourish. There are many extra – curricular clubs after school too, where our pupils can choose to extend their learning in Drama, Art, Football (for boys and girls), Tennis, Computers/Internet, Gymnastics, Chess, Spanish….all taught by highly qualified staff. Field trips such as skiing, geographical, sports and cultural trips also feature throughout the year. The College welcomes parental interest and maintains a successful ‘Open-door’ policy.
