Lantau International School

The Lantau International School (L.I.S) provides schooling in English from Reception Class (4y old)to Primary One to Primary Six following the requirements of the British National Curriculum and the SATS examination system.

As Hong Kong is such a diverse city, and as we truly are an international school with both children and teachers coming from all over the world, the British National Curriculum is adapted so that it is applicable to all of our students. Among the international schools of Hong Kong, L.I.S provides the highest ratio of teacher per children, with no class exceeding 22 children.

Topic works focus on local history, local geography, and the traditional culture of the Hong Kong people. These areas of study are connected to broader topics in European and North American history, geography, and culture.

World religions are taught with the aim of promoting understanding, tolerance, and the appreciation of the rich collective histories and cultures of this part of the world.

Although only a Primary school, L.I.S provides training in Mandarin starting from Primary One. Some of our students are blessed to be bilingual if not trilingual at a very early age.

L.I.S is fortunate to be located on beautiful Lantau Island, a much more rural and slower paced part of Hong Kong. The school takes full advantage of its green surroundings with outdoor education programs (such as camping trips, PE on the beach, school hikes, outdoor nature lessons and sometimes unexpected encounters with the rich wild fauna of Lantau South).
